The Tanintharyi Region Tourism Committee held its second coordination meeting of 2025, in the meeting hall of the Tanintharyi Region Government Office in Dawei on March 10.

During the meeting, the Chairman of the Tanintharyi Region Tourism Committee, Chief Minister U Myat Ko, stated that the number of tourists this travel season has increased compared to the previous years. He noted that the Kyunsu Township has become a place of public interest. He also mentioned that in the near future, foreign investors are expected to invest in the Dawei Special Economic Zone, and an influx of tourist visitors could lead to significant success for hotels. He added that if the Dawei deep-sea port project becomes successful, it could attract even more foreigners, requiring hotels to prepare in advance to meet international standards. He emphasized the need to explore and develop new tourism sites, ensure accessibility for visitors, and establish training programs to build human resources capacity in the hotel industry.

Following this, the Vice-Chairman of Working  Committee, Region Minister for Economic Affairs U Maung Gyi, made a discussion. The committee secretary then presented updates on the implementation of decisions from the previous meeting and explained matters related to business license applications for various service sectors that require committee approval. Committee members discussed and provided suggestions for the systematic and sustainable development of the hotel and tourism sectors in the region. It was reported that the Chief Minister coordinated and acted upon the points raised during the discussions.
