Refutation of False Claims: Fake news on incident in Palaw Township

KhitThit, an illegal and destructive media outlet, disseminated fake news on social media, claiming that security forces had stationed at Nan Payoat Village Monastery in Palaw Township of Taninthayi Region for two days.

The false report further alleged that upon departure on February 1st, six members of the Sangha from the monastery were abducted to be used as human shields. In response to these allegations, a local security officer has refuted the claims, stating that security forces did not station at the monastery, and no abduction of Sangha members took place.

The security forces are reported to be actively cooperating with the local community to enhance regional security and ensure peace and stability in Palaw Township. The dissemination of such fake news is an attempt by terrorists and subversive media outlets to divert attention and incite unrest in the region.
