Due to the declined of domestic fuel prices, the Myanmar Container Trucking Association (MCTA) has reduced about 20000 kyats of the transportation charges for container truck services since early December.

Min Naing Tun, Vice Chairman-1, MCTA, Yangon Region said "We reduced about 20000 kyats of the transportation fees for our trucking services based on the drop of fuel prices. Before this time, We had to hold several meetings to increase the services fees. We had taken a lot of risk to set the prices. We set the price to cover the expensive prices of goods, based on the situation of trucks’ owners and members of container truck association. Now, we has been reduced the service charges. The depreciation between the previous price and the current one is about 50,000 kyats. "

According to the Vice Chairman, the services prices of container transportation are charged based on distance and container’s weight.

Min Naing Tun, Vice Chairman-1, MCTA, Yangon Region said "Around 1996, before the Myanmar Container Trucking Association (MCTA), the containers were transported with the 20 feet trucks in Yangon. Then, the Myanmar Container Trucking Association (MCTA) was formed in 2009 and the transportation charges were set based on the Bo Aung Kyaw port, Yangon as a starting point. So, we charged the transportation charges based on the distance and weight of the containers. "

The Myanmar Container Trucking Association (MCTA) was established in 2009. There are 87 members of truck gates and more than 1,500 trucks are giving service daily.
