Receiving UNHCR resident rep. : MoIP UM received UNHCR resident representative

The Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing received a delegation led by the UNHCR Resident Representative to Myanmar Ms. Noriko Takagi at the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw at 2 PM on Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Ministers U Htay Hlang and Dr. Myo Thant, Director General U Ye Tun Oo of the Department of Immigration and cordially exchanged views on the efforts of the government for the success of repatriating displaced persons from Rakhine State and signed triple MoU among the Ministry and UNDP-UNHCR, project works to be implemented at the specific locations in Buthidaung and Maungtaw Townships of Rakhine State by UNDP-UNHCR under the MoU framework, the coordination process with the relevant departments by the Ministry to undertake the project works at the proposed areas, the acts of disturbances to fail the repatriation process to be understood by the UNHCR, the presence of limits to implement the tasks under the current regional security conditions and need to report about the recruitment of local employees to the Ministry.
