Receiving UNFPA Rep.: MoIP UM received UNFPA representative

Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing received a delegation led by Mr. Jaime Nadal Roig, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Representative for Myanmar, at the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on December 3.

During the meeting, they openly exchanged views and discussed matters including the successful completion of the 2024 Population and Household Census by the Ministry and the issuance of the Union-level report, the status of efforts to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for implementing the mutually agreed-upon projects in the work plan between the Ministry and UNFPA, the status of planning to undertake only projects that can be completed within a defined timeframe for such implementation, the Ministry's facilitation of visa and stay permit matters for UNFPA's international staff in accordance with procedures, the need for UNFPA to compile and submit the list of its international and locally recruited staff to the Ministry and that only after such submission can necessary assistance be provided, the current developments and the situation regarding holding the general election in Myanmar and the status of UNFPA's continued close collaboration with the Ministry, it’s reported.
