Receiving the Delegations: Meeting with the Ambassador and WFP delegation

Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe received Ambassador of Nepal to Myanmar Mr. Harishchandra Ghimire at the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on 10th April.

During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of Myanmar expressed his appreciation to Nepal for providing humanitarian assistance and sending a medical team to Myanmar in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake. Both sides discussed to work closely in the rescue and relief efforts of the victims of the earthquake. They exchanged views on ways to further strengthen bilateral ties, including fostering closer economic cooperation, and to promote trade and investment between two countries.

In the afternoon, the Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister received Mr. Michael Dunford, Resident Representative of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).

During the meeting, they discussed on the matters pertaining to the provision of humanitarian assistance to the population from the areas affected by the Mandalay earthquake which struck in the central part of Myanmar on 28 March. At the meeting were also presented by the senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
