


Union Minister for Commerce U Chit Swe received a delegation led by Ms. Ma Jia, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China based in Yangon, at the Union Minister's Reception Hall of the Ministry, Office No. 3, Nay Pyi Taw, at 11:00 a.m. on January 5.
During the meeting, they held a candid and open discussion on potential avenues to enhance trade and investment. Topics included the reopening of border gates to increase trade between Myanmar and China, collaboration in the necessary machinery and technology sectors to ensure Myanmar's exports to China meet quality standards, increasing the number of items eligible for duty-free export to China, and matters for joint cooperation to benefit the people living in the border areas of both countries, among other issues.
Subsequently, Union Minister U Chit Swe received Mr. Bounphieng CHANTHAVONG, Ambassador of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Embassy based in Yangon, at the Union Minister's Reception Hall at 2:30 p.m.
During the meeting, they held a candid and open discussion on matters for continued coordination between the two countries included increasing exports of Myanmar's key export products, such as agricultural and aquatic products, to Laos, upgrading the KyaingLatt-Si In Kauk Bridge crossing to an international entry/exit gate to facilitate smoother movement of goods and people and further developing the Wanpong-Banmoung Man border gates, it’s reported.
