Reading habit raising festival: MOI UM attended and delivered the speech

To promote the development of school libraries, to encourage students to read books, and to ensure that the knowledge and skills gained from reading are shared and applied, the school library development and reading habit raising festival was held on Tuesday at No. (4) Basic Education High School in Taunggyi.

The Union Minister for Information, U Maung Maung Ohn, and the Shan State Chief Minister, U Aung Aung, attended and showed their support. The opening of the school library development and reading habit raising festival was officiated by Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn, State Chief Minister U Aung Aung, Chief Justice of the State High Court U Than Lwin Oo, State Minister for Security and Border Affairs, Col. Sein Win, and Minister for Social Affairs, U Min Min Lwin, who cut the ribbon.

Following that, the Union Minister and the State Chief Minister visited the physical and intellectual games of the students and the book shop stalls. They distributed food and donation materials to the students and gave gift of toys to the children.

They also visited the "Pyinnya Beikman" school library and encouraged students. The second part of the event continued at the school’s Myathiri Hall, where students from No. (4) Basic Education High School in Taunggyi opened the ceremony by singing "The Most Beautiful Flowers Have Bloomed."

This was followed by video clips titled "For the Benefit of the Country, the Vision Must Be Strong and Progressive," and "Promoting Sports is a Safeguarding of the Country." Next, the Chairman of the Myanmar Libraries Development Cooperation Committee, Union Minister for Information, spoke about the importance of education and how everyone must seek knowledge to improve their lives.

He stressed that the youth should pursue education and work for the benefit of the nation. He further emphasized that the upcoming events should inspire the youth to engage with literature and develop a habit of reading. He encouraged everyone to view libraries as treasure houses of knowledge.

Later, the Union Minister donated the sets of DTH satellite dishes and DVB T2 set-top boxes to the Shan State Government, military stations and the schools in Taunggyi. Next, the Shan State Chief Minister spoke about the objectives of conducting reading habit raising campaign, importance of libraries in providing knowledge to the public and donated books and periodicals for the school libraries.

The State Minister for Social Affairs and School Principal accepted the books and returned the certificate of honor. Then, the students from No. (4) Basic Education High School performed the Shan ethnic dance and Pa-O ethnic dance and the Union Minister and Chief Minister awarded cash of honor to them.

After that, Union Minister and Chief Minister observed the exhibition of books and photo, science display booth, Narcotic drugs awareness display booth, essay writing contest, competition of reading ability. In the afternoon, the Union Minister met with students at Taunggyi University.

First, the video clips on "Protection from Risks of Media Poisoning " and "Promoting Sports is a Safeguarding of the Country." Were screened. And the Union Minister spoke about the issue of misinformation and the importance of young people discerning the truth and contributing to the development of the nation.

Subsequently, the Union Minister donated sets of DTH satellite dishes and DVB T2 set-top boxes to Taunggyi University, Rector Dr. Kaythi Thin, accepted the donation, DTH satellite dishes and DVB T2 set-top boxes were gifted to the students through a lucky draw and the Rector expressed words of thanks.

Next, the Union Minister attended the ceremony of donating MRTV DTH Dish and DVB T2 Set Top Box held at the hall of Region Administrative Body office in Hopong Township and gave a speech. Then, the 100 sets of DTH Dishes and 50 units of DVB T2 Set Top Boxes were donated by the Union Minister and accepted by the Chairman of Pa-O Self-Administered Zone Administrative Body U Khun Ye Htwe and 30 sets of DTH Dishes were accepted by a representative of Pa-O National (Transformed) Militia.

Next, Chairman of Pa-O Self-Administered Zone Administrative Body U Khun Ye Htwe clarified the status of implementing regional development works and a representative of Pa-O National (Transformed) Militia extended words of thanks for providing DTH Dishes.

Finally, the Union Minister and the Chief Minister visited the newly completed Aung Thaya Library in the Aung Thaya village, where they met with local residents and donated books and other materials to support the development of local libraries.
