A rare greater one-horned rhino calf, which was born in a zoo in Northwest England, has already taken its first steps with its mother. The 50 kilograms female calf was born on 14 October, said a statement released by Chester Zoo.

The species is vulnerable to extinction, according to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature's Red List of threatened species. There are currently fewer than 3,000 one-horned rhinos in the wild. They are mainly present in a small area in India and Nepal, but suffer from poaching and habitat loss, according to the zoo's statement.
