Ramaphosa ends SAfrica's COVID State of Disaster

After more than two years, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Monday put an end to the National State of Disaster declared in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.Coming into effect from midnight, this will end the majority of restrictions of the virus since the outbreak.However a 30-day transitional period will be observed as the country eases into new measures under the National Health Act. During this time certain measures such as wearing masks in public areas and travel requirements will remain in place. The president also noted the significant decline in COVID-19 related deaths in the country.
