








Vice Chair (1) of Rakhine State Stability, Peace and Development Work Coordination Committee Union Minister for the Ministry (2) of Union Government Office U Ko Ko Hlaing together with the heads of mission of the embassies based in Myanmar and diplomats left Nay Pyi Taw by Air and arrived at Sittwe in the morning on 1st of September.
Next, the Union Minister U Ko Ko Hlaing, member of SAC Chairman’s Advisory Board Dr. Yin Yin Nwe, Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin, Deputy Minister for Border Affairs Ma-J Gen. Khun Thant Zaw Htoo held meeting with the diplomatic corps participated in the trip.
First, the Union Minister U Ko Ko Hlaing clarified the status of rehabilitation and reconstruction works on the ground, government’s principles on the rehabilitation works, preparations for the repatriation of the displaced persons from Rakhine State.
Next, the member of SAC Chairman’s Advisory Board Dr. Yin Yin Nwe explained the responsive measures in the Cyclonic Storm Mocha hit regions and the progress report on the rehabilitation works from 6th May to 30th June.
Then, Rakhine State head officer of the Ministry of Immigration and Population, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement and Rakhine State Government Secretary explained the matters regarding with the arrangements for the repatriation of displaced persons from Rakhine State, status of providing humanitarian assistances, building infrastructures and vocational industries, international assistances including ASEAN, the initiative from Myanmar side to accept the displaced persons under the MoU between Myanmar and Bangladesh.
Next, the diplomats took part in the discussion regarding with the rehabilitation works, arrangements for the repatriation of displaced persons and acknowledged the response of Myanmar Government.
Afterward, the Union Minister and diplomatic corps visited Saint Mark's Cathedral in May Yu Street in Sittwe Township, Sittwe Multipurpose Project Port where the relief items transporting and distributing, 500 bed- Sittwe General Hospital, historic U Ye Kyaw Thu monastery, Thakyamuni Ordination Hall and observed the rehabilitation and reconstruction works.
In the U Ottama Part, the Union Minister and diplomatic corps viewed the shop stalls arranged for the public to purchase the basic foodstuffs in an affordable prices carrying out by the west command, Myanmar Economic Corporation and Myanmar Economic Holding.
Next, the Union Minister and diplomatic corps cordially greeted the resident national races women and those from the IDPs who are learning the basic sewing training at the domestic vocational training center. Then, the Union Minister and diplomats also observed the status of completing rehabilitation works in Sittwe University, The-Chaung and Dar Paing Villages by motorcade.
Later, they visited Thet Kal Pyin IDP, gave words of encouragement and inspected providing healthcare service. In the evening, the Union Minister and diplomatic corps attended the dinner hosted by the Chief Minister at the Sittwe Hotel.
