Hong Kong continues to be hit by downpours with the Red Rainstorm Warning Signal issued for an hour at noon on Monday. To cope with the threat of flooding, the Drainage Services Department dispatched 90 teams to inspect and clear flooding spots in various districts.
Torrential rain pounded multiple districts across the city, as a result of the active southwest monsoon and upper-air disturbances. The Hong Kong Observatory hoisted the Amber Rainstorm Warning Signal. Drivers in Tseung Kwan O found it challenging, as it was difficult to see the situation ahead.
The weather forecaster said the southwest monsoon is bringing heavy showers and squally thunderstorms to the coast of southern China and the northern part of the South China Sea. The forecaster predicts unstable weather on Tuesday and Wednesday, with showers weakening on Thursday.
