Rain causes deadly landslide on Italian island

A landslide caused by the heavy rains that fell overnight in the island of Ischia, produced heavy damage in the Casamicciola and Lacco Ameno area on Saturday.

Mud and water reached the first floor of the houses, with thirteen buildings torn down by the landslide, while cars and trucks were pushed into the sea. Italian vice Premier Matteo Salvini, who is also Minister for Infrastructure, said there were eight victims and thirteen missing people. Rescuers were working to find the missing people, but the effort was made difficult due to the extremely bad weather conditions.
