Quake In Khin-U Stupas, Religious Buildings, Houses And Schools Damaged

Pagodas and stupas, religious buildings, houses and schools were damaged in the township because of 6.0-magnitude earthquake jolted in Khin-U Township, Shwe Bo District, Sagaing Region at about 9:39 pm on 31st August, according to the Township General Administration Department.

On Sunday, the Sagaing Regon Chief Minister Dr. Myint Naing, the Region Hluttaw Speaker and concerned officials inspected damages of ancient pagodas in Thawut Hti and Thagara villages as well as damages in Khin Oo Township Basic Education School.

The Region Chief Minister gave instructions on repairing of ancient pagodas in cooperation with the Archaeological teams. The quake damaged to 82 pagodas and stupas, 5 monasteries, 11 houses, two clinics and 13 other things in 2 wards and 37 villages and it is estimated that total losses were over 230 million kyats, the township General Administration Department said.
