







Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Tin Htut on April 26th, inspected the distribution of irrigated water from Sin Thay Diversion Weir in Tatkone Township of Nay Pyi Taw.
He also met with the farmers and instructed for systematic utilization of irrigated water in quake-hit farmlands, along with the implementation of proper output system. The Deputy Minister later proceeded to the paddy field in Nyaung Tone Aing Village-tract which was affected by the earthquake, with sand layer emerged on the surface.
He met with the farmers to explain the consequences to be caused by irrigating to the farmlands and urged all to follow the instructions. He then visited Nay Pan La Pan Farmland in Zeyathiri Township and oversaw the repair works of production lanes, and reclamation works for sand layers and cracks in the farmlands.
On arrival at the farmland in Gway Gyi Villlage in Lewe Township, the Deputy Minister inspected the plans to repair the low surface level of farmlands. He also inspected the reclamation works on the farmland cracks in Pyu Twin Village of Pyinmana Township, emergence of sand layers and damaged irrigation system in Tegyi Kone Village of Zabuthiri Township.
They also viewed the testing of soil profile, thriving paddy plantations and sand layer condition in Nyaung Pin Gyi Sa Village of Pobbathiri Township. During the visits, the Deputy Minister instructed the farmers cooperate in the disaster mitigation measrues through the formation of Study Teams.
He urged all to be cautious of land sinking in quake-hit farmland due to cultivation of paddy which need a huge amount of water, while implementing the alternate crops such as beans and pulses, cotton and sunflower.
