Qatar 2022 accommodation shipped to quake zone

Temporary accommodation that used to house World Cup fans in Qatar are being shipped to Turkiye to provide shelter for people left homeless by the quake.

Around 10,000 containers and caravans will be sent and the first batch of 306 furnished cabins, fitted out with a kitchen and a toilet, were loaded onto a ship on Sunday. The country opened a humanitarian air bridge with Turkiye in the aftermath of Monday's 7.8 magnitude earthquake, and has sent rescuers and emergency supplies.
