Purified drinking water: Projects are underway in rural areas

In 2023-2024 financial year, the department of rural development aims to implement 1,055 water supply projects in 974 villages with the use of over 28 billion kyats budget allotments from the Union and the Regional governments.

According to an official of department of rural development, the department has carried out 2,058 water supply projects in 1,858 villages with a total of 39 billion kyats from the Union and the regional Governments funds during 2022-2023 financial years.

The government is aims to implement the water supply projects to access enough purified drinking water across the country by 2030. Currently, projects are underway to access enough drinking water in rural areas.
