Public Notification: Public are advised to follow COVID-19 preventive measures

The Ministry of Health issued a public notification on Sunday. It stated that the ministry is carrying out the COVID-19 preventive measures by monitoring constantly on the infection situation in the country as well as the world and regional countries.

According to the WHO announcement on 20th April, COVID-10 infection rate has been increased in 31 world countries including the neighbouring countries such as India, Thailand and Bangladesh starting January this year. Among the infection includes the variant XBB.1.16 (Arcturus).

In Myanmar, the infection rate has increased slightly starting early April. The studies show that although the variant is 1.27 time faster in infection more than the previous variants, the symptoms were not more severe.

Moreover, the rate of hospitalization and mortality is not higher than the previous ones. It can also be cured with the current treatment method and the vaccines being provided in the country can prevent effectively.

That’s why, the entire people especially the elder persons and those with chronic disease are urged to take COVID-19 vaccination and booster doses. It is also advised to follow the COVID-19 preventive measures including staying apart and wearing masks when going out the crowded places and indoor areas.

If it was suspected with the symptoms of COVID-19, it is advised to take necessary treatment at the nearest health department. The infected and suspected ones are urged to stay at home in line with the COVID-19 preventive measures issued by the Ministry of Health in order to avoid disease transmission.
