Public Hearings at ICJ : Myanmar delegation departs for the Netherlands

Concerning the application filled by the Gambia alleging Myanmar of violating the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, the International Court of Justice will hold public hearings starting from 12 January at the Peace Palace of The Hague in the Netherlands.

To attend the aforementioned hearings, the Myanmar delegation led by Agent of Myanmar and Union Minister for Ministry (2) of the President's Office, U Ko Ko Hlaing, and Alternate Agent of Myanmar and Union Minister for Legal Affairs and Union Attorney-General Dr. Thida Oo, left for the Hague, the Netherlands on Sunday.

It is learned that the hearings will be held from 12 to 29 January and Myanmar will present two rounds of oral arguments, the first round from 16 to 20 January and the second round from 28 to 29 January.
