Public Health Sector: Union Minister Inspects Construction Of Myanmar CDC

Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win inspected construction of the Myanmar Center for Disease Control and Training Center for Medical Staff (Myanmar CDC) in Dhakhinathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area. There, the Union Minister stressed benefits the Center will bring for the public health and pledged to provide assistance for completion of the construction in time. He also heard reports on the center construction process, requirements and plans by the Public Health Department.

Construction of the China-aided Myanmar Center for Disease Control and Training Center for Medical Staff (Myanmar CDC) began on the 10th of January, 2021. Upon completion, the Center will play an important role in the emergency response, epidemic prevention, scientific research and medical personnel training, which will bring benefits to the people of Myanmar.

After the inspection, the Union Minister addressed a virtual meeting for the COVID-19 prevention and control and stressed the importance of COVID-19 vaccination programme and other healthcare services to reduce the infection and fatality rate and continuation of genomic surveillance of the COVID-19 variant ‘Omicron’.

This meeting discussed the COVID-19 4th wave situation in the country, prevention, control and treatment measures, oxygen supply and acceleration of the vaccination programme.
