A ceremony for the distribution of rice seeders to farmers in various townships of Kachin State to promote proper rice cultivation methods, reduce the traditional broadcast seeding method, improve paddy yield targets, and increase farmers' income across the State, was held at the meeting hall of the State Department of Agriculture in the morning on July 8.
At the event, Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan delivered a speech and officially handed over 150 complete rice seeders to the respective township agriculture officers. Additionally, various agricultural inputs were distributed to lead farmers, including pure rice seed bags, vegetable seed bags, chemical and organic fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides, foliar spray nutrients and spraying equipment. These items were also displayed for inspection during the event.
Moreover, in the afternoon on July 7, the Chief Minister, along with officials, provided basic food items to General Administration Department staff and joint-assigned personnel working at the State Government Office compound.
Later, the Chief Minister and officials inspected rescue preparedness activities, as there have been frequent rainfalls in upper Ayeyarwady River areas and across the state this July. They checked the deployment of rescue teams prepared for emergency response in case the river level rises again. The Chief Minister also distributed meal boxes to the rescue team members.
