In the afternoon on 11th November, the Mon State Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein, State Ministers and State level departmental officials and well-wishers attended the event of providing cash assistance for the reconstruction of houses destroyed by fire during the attacks of terrorists in Dhammatha and neighboring villages in Kyaikmaraw Township in Mon State.
First, the Chief Minister of Mon State inspected Dhammatha Village in Kyaikmayaw Township, where residential homes had been damaged by fire, to assess the ongoing reconstruction efforts and ensure that necessary support from various sectors is being provided. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of providing food, clothing, construction materials, and kitchen supplies to the villagers to address their essential needs and support their resettlement. Both the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement and the Mon State Government are committed to assisting the villagers as much as possible.
Next, the Chief Minister stated that for the reconstruction of 380 houses destroyed by fire in Dhammatha Village, the National Disaster Management Committee transferred funds amounting to over 213.771 million Kyats which were accepted by the Relief Committee, represented by Peace Committee members, including Sayadaw Bhaddanta Ketumala.
The Chief Minister further provided a donation of 30 million Kyat, (10 million Kyats for each of the three monasteries affected by the fire), on behalf of the state government. Additionally, the Minister of Security and Border Affairs contributed over 22.915 million Kyats, with 4,200 Kyats per person, for 5,456 people, provided by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement and the Department of Disaster Management.
Members of the Relief and Peace Committees, along with monks from Dhammatha Village, expressed gratitude for these donations to rebuild the homes lost in the fire. The Chief Minister also engaged warmly with the villagers and reaffirmed the commitment to continue coordinating and fulfilling the requirements for the reconstruction process.
