





The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) offered the International Award for Promotion of Buddhism to Venerable Sitagu Sayadaw Dr. Ashin Nyanissara.
The Sitagu Sayadaw was selected for this award as he contributes for promotion of Theravada Buddhism worldwide.
The conferring ceremony of this prestigious award took place at the India Center in Yangon on 31st May, with the arrangement of the Embassy of India in Myanmar.
During the special occasion, Sayadaw Sitagu Sayadaw Dr. Ashin Nyanissara accepted the award which includes a certificate, an honorary medal and a cash prize of 20,000 USD.
Kyaw Moe Naing, Secretary, Sitagu International Buddhist Missionary Association said "This award was offered to the Sayadaw for his efforts to promote Theravada Buddhism over the world by organizing conferences in collaboration with Buddhist Communities in India and Myanmar, especially with the Theravada Buddhist Missionary Universities under the management of Sitagu Sayadaw. I would like to express thanks to the Indian Government and ICCR for offering this award to the Sayadaw."
Venerable Sitagu Sayadaw Dr. Ashin Nyanissara played a pivotal role in providing education, health care and humanitarian aid to the people. Furthermore, Sayadaw’s efforts in preserving and promoting the rich Buddhist cultural heritage shared by both India and Myanmar have been assisting in fostering greater cultural exchange and understanding between the two countries.
