








A new facility for study of Buddhist Literatures was opened in Kan Myint Village in ThoneKwa Township of Yangon Region.
The establishment of Khema Buddhist University aims for the monks, nuns and lay persons to study the Buddhist literatures conveniently.
Vice Rector (Academic Affairs), Khema Buddhist University, Dr. Ashin Thuria said "The attendees at the Khema Buddhist University can study the Buddhist Scriptures as per the syllabus of the University. They will come to understand the Pitaka Literature by means of comparison. Moreover, they will have a knowledge of the different cultures and customs of Buddhism. They will also become familiar with the nature of philosophy, psychology and sociology. This will provide them to conduct the higher research works easily, and it will lead to turning out of the outstanding ones who can carry out a mission for propagation of Buddha Sasana."
The founder of the Buddhist University came up with the idea to provide opportunity for study of Buddhist literatures for those who have difficulties to go abroad for study.
Patron Nun, Khema Yama Nunnery School, Aung Chan Tha – 1, Thanlyin, Dr. Sandar said "I am carrying out the Buddhist missionary works for propagation of the Sasana. I also take care the children who are in needs. I also open the Pariyatti Sarthintaik. There are many monks and nuns who cannot go for studying abroad. So, I am making effort to open this university for them to study here."
The university will open temporarily at the Nunnery School, and the buildings for the university will be built at the designated places with the contribution of the donors.
Donor, Kyaw Khin said "Dr Daw Sandar, a Senior Nun, told me that she would like to extend her missionary works in ThoneKwa. So, I donated for Nunnery Education School and Mess Hall. She then expressed her wish for opening of the Buddhist University. That’s why, we are making contribution for it. "
Donor, Than Than Myint said "We always make donation for the Senior Nun since her efforts for propagation of the Sasana are very much respectable. We are supporting her missionary works as much as we can for long term perpetuation of the Buddha Sasana. "
The University will conduct Vinaya, Suttanta, Abhidhamma, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, History and English subjects.
The applicants have to sit for the entrance exam, and those who completed Sasanadaja Dhamma Cariya degree, Arts and Science degree, First-class Buddhist Studies and matriculation exam. The attendees will get a Bachelor Degree for Buddhist Philosophy after completion the three years studies at the University.
The university also plans to open the Master and Ph.D courses in the future.
