Promoting Tourism: Loknu Culture & Rhododendron Festival to be Held

Chin State Tourism Working Committee is going to organize Loknu Culture and Rhododendron Festival in Kanpetlet Town from January 25th to 26th.

The 2-day festival aims to promote tourism of Chin State, conservation of Khonusun Mountain and environs, exposing the Loknu culture, and preservation the traditional customs by the youths. The festival will be held at Kanpetlet, the town that stationed the government office in southern Chin State for the first time.

During the festival, there will be booths displaying the cultures and customs of different Chin hill tribes, Chin traditional cuisines, souvenirs, educative booths on conserving Khonusun Mountain and Rhododendron. Moreover, Chin traditional dance troupes will also entertain with the performances by their tribal cultures.

On the first day of the festival, it will include awarding the winners of the poem, articles and essay competition to mark the festival, opening of Tourist Information Center, and other traditional performances.

On the second day, hiking and campfire festival will be held along with the meeting for corporate social responsibility and human resource development.

Khonusun or Mt. Victoria is the highest mountain in Chin State. It was established as Nat Ma Taung National Park in 2010, and also listed on ASEAN Heritage Parks. It is one of the tourist destinations of Myanmar and attracts visitors from local and abroad.
