


Union Minister for Education Dr Nyunt Pe received a delegation led by Mr. Shi Zhongjun, secretary general of ASEAN-China Center at the Ministry on Thursday.
During the meeting, the Union Minister said enhancing educational cooperation between ASEAN member states and China which is one of the processess of ASEAN-China Center benefits a lot to promting education sector in Myanmar.
ASEAN-China Young leaders scholarship program could produced many scholars and leaders. According to the records of June 2023, 25 MoUs between China and Myanmar Universities have been signed and over 5,000 Myanmar students and teachers had opportinuties to study in Chinese universities from 2013 to 2023 and also 802 chinese students have learned Myanmar language at the University of Foreign Languages (Yangon) and 589 students at UFL in Mandalay starting from 2013.
The Ministry of Education sends visiting professors of Myanmar language to universities in China. He added that 51 high schools on Industry, Agriculture and livestock have been opened in 50 districts this academic year to get technological assistance for supporting state economic develpment. He also discussed to send excursion tours to China and ASEAN countries and to promote student and teacher exchange programme and cooperation in research works.
Director General of ASEAN-China Centre said ASEAN-China centre is promoting the joint venture in trade, investment, education, culture, tourism and media sectors with ASEAN countreis. China-ASEAN relationship is a driving force for the regional development and they will overcome the current challanges together.
He also said that Chinese universities are ready to cooperate for the educational development of Myanmar. Deputy minister Dr Zaw Myint, permanent secreatry Dr Soe Win and Directors General also attended the meeing.
