




The launching of “Project of enhancement for smooth and fast Agricultural Trade in Cooperation with Lanchan-Mekong Countries to facilitate Myanmar Agricultural Products Value Chain Supply” to be implemented with Mekong- Lanchang Cooperation Special Fund (2023) was held at Thingaha Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on 5th March with the attendance of Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung, Deputy Ministers and Senior officials.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister said that the smooth and fast trade is key to be able to export the products of the country and market expansion. The farmers are expanding in production of agricultural products such as corn, black gram and marine products which are in high demand from abroad. As long as providing convenient trade, together with the farmers and all stakeholders including in the chain of supply and demand will be beneficial and the economy of the country will be greatly facilitated.
The trade status of agricultural, meat and fisheries products of Myanmar and difficulties encountered are needed to be analyzed and found solution by the cooperation with relevant departments and organizations of this project and made collective effort to facilitate the smooth and fast trade based on the outcomes.
Next, the Director General U Kyaw Swe Lin from the Planning Department clarified the purposes of the project and work plans to be implemented. The representatives from the UMFCCI affiliated associations and the departmental officials discussed the related work sectors, discussion in group as per the sector and reviewing the findings from the group discussion together were conducted.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation is granted 12.18 UDS to implement 35 projects from 2017 to 2023 with Mekong-Lanchang Cooperation Special Fund. In 2023, 4 projects will be implemented with 1.29 USD. The matters of individual project and work plans to be implemented were clarified in this occasion, it’s learnt.
