Italy's newly elected lawmakers took their seats in the Chamber of Deputies on Thursday, setting into motion the process of giving the country a new government.

The clear winner of last month's election was the far-right Brothers of Italy party and its leader, Giorgia Meloni. Under a reform to streamline the legislature and reduce spending, the new Chamber of Deputies has 400 members instead of 630, while the Senate has been cut back to 200 from 315 members.
