Private Healthcare Services: Meeting on private healthcare Services held

The Central Committee on Private Healthcare Services held its meeting (1/2025) at the Ministry of Health in Naypyidaw on January 16 and was attended by Committee Chairman Union Minister for Health, Professor Dr. Thet Khaing Win, Committee members, special invitees, and the relevant officials.

Speaking at the meeting, the Union Minister, said that the meeting, emphasizing that the Central Committee on Private Healthcare Services is diligently overseeing and monitoring the private hospitals, maternity wards, special diagnostic operations, special pharmacies, health services, and general health activities that are operating nationwide. The Minister noted that private healthcare services that fail to comply with licensing regulations are being dealt with in accordance with the Private Health Sector Law and related procedures. Efforts are also underway to amend the existing law to address the contemporary needs. Additionally, the Union Minister highlighted that discussions on regulating cosmetic medical procedures in line with legal requirements would also take place during the meeting.

Following that, Secretary of Central Committee, Dr. Myat Wunna Soe, Director-General of the Department of Medical Service, presented the status of developments in the private health sector, including specific issues. Dr. Moe Khine, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Medical Service, also discussed the cases regarding applications for new private health sector licenses. Committee members collectively discussed the matters, and the Union Minister concluded the meeting with final remarks.
