Princess Diana gowns to be auctioned in Beverly Hills

Three dresses that once belonged to Diana, Princess of Wales, will be auctioned off in Los Angeles.

The sale of more than 1,000 objects closely associated with cultural figures, known as the Hollywood Legends collection, has been announced by Julien’s Auctions and Turner Classic Movies.

The auction took place on 26 and 27 August, before the 26th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death on 31 August.

Three designer dresses that were owned by the princess, which have not been seen in public in more than 30 years.

Julien’s Auctions executive director said “Diana in her own right could have been a Hollywood star” in front of the main piece of the auction, a red gown that Lady Diana wore in 1991 during a movie premiere.
