The UK's Prince William on Friday voiced his support for nations which have cut their ties with the British monarchy, during a speech in the Bahamas.

Speaking at a dinner hosted by the country's Governor General in Nassau, the Duke of Cambridge said that he would "support with pride and respect your decisions about your future." The Bahamas will next year celebrate 50 years of independence from Britain.

In his address, William mentioned other independence milestones for nearby Jamaica and Belize, and said that "relationships evolve" and "friendship endures."

The Bahamas is the final-leg of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's weeklong royal tour of Central America and the Carribbean, which has also featured visits to Jamaica and Belize.
