



The respective departments are working on preventive measures in collaboration with relevant organizations as the Cyclonic storm Mocha is likely to hit Myanmar coasts.
The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology is providing timely information about Mocha to make necessary preparations in advance. Due to the cyclonic storm, many regions and states are likely to face heavy rainfall, including Yangon Region.
Myanmar Pulses, Beans, Maize and Sesame Seeds Merchants Association (MPBMSMA) is also taking preventive measures to protect the loss of crops due to the impacts of Cyclone Mocha.
Chairman, MPBMSMA, TunLwin, said " As the warnings regarding with very severe cyclonic storm (Mocha) have been issued in advance on time, preventive measures are being undertaken in most of the places. Crops stored in the depots are securely covered up with plastic layers to avoid losses and sandbags are also placed as barriers to prevent accidental water entry into the depots. We have lots of time to make preparations due to timely information about storm warnings. "
Crops such as various pulses and beans, corn and sesame are stored in depots of Yangon Industrial Zone. Due to the timely information about storm warnings, the best preventive measures are being taken to avoid crop losses, it’s learnt.
