





The Ministry of Health is accelerating the surveillence measures for Mpox at the entry and exit gates, in cooperation with the relavent ministries.
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Multi-Country Outbreak of Mpox in May 2022, and since that time, the Ministry has been conducting the measures for Fever with Vesicular Rash Surveillance, along with the laboratory tests at the Public Health Department and People’s Hospitals in Nay Pyi Taw, Regions and States for early response of the disease.
On August 14th, the WHO declared Mpox as the Public Health Emergency for International Concern (PHEIC), the Ministry has accelerated its efforts on surveillance measures at Yangon and Mandalay International Airports, border gates in Myawady of Kayin State, Mwedaw Kyun in Kawthaung of Taninthayi Region and Thachileik in Shan State (East).
The measures include mass thermal screening, health declaration form, and educative notice. Although the risk of Mpox infection in Myanmar remains low, the ministry is accelerating the preventive measures including health education, monitoring, and control activities.
