Press Conference: SAC Information Team holds 22nd press conference

Information Team of the State Administration Council held the 22nd press conference on Tuesday at the assembly hall of the Ministry of Information in Nay Pyi Taw. The conference focused on a series of matters including political, economic and social sectors of the country.

Regarding the political and social sectors, Leader of the Information Team Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun explained implementation of peace and stability processes, registration of political parties for the upcoming general election, releasing information on the cyclone mocha, rehabilitation tasks in the cyclone-affected areas and cash donation of over 33 billion Kyats and over 750,000 USD till the 21st of August by local and foreign well-wishers and international organizations.

Also, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar explained bank interest rate reduction, deflation control, currency exchange stability and illegal trade eradication. He also urged the public not to trust currency-relate fake news on social media.

In the economic sector, Deputy Minister for Planning and Finance stressed the systematic use of budget, budget deficit and GDP rate reduction, food sufficiency, the use of public financial management system and state economic promotion fund.

And, Deputy Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations explained scrutinization and allowance of foreign currency in trading processes. She also stressed that to promote export and reduce import, domestic production is important and called for efforts for development of livestock and agriculture-based MSME enterprises.

The Foreign Exchange Supervisory Committee has been making efforts for market and price stability in cooperation with private sectors, she added.
