Press Conference: SAC Information Team Held Press Briefing

The Information Team of the State Administration Council held the press conference No 13/2021 at the Ministry of Information on Wednesday. Leader of the Information Team Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun explained the successful holding of Thingyan Festival despite the threats and disturbances by the terrorists.

He later elaborated the New Year Greetings of the SAC Chairman, and invitation to EAO leaders for holding peace dialogues. The Maj-Gen also explained the visit of Secretary of State for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Head of the office of the Special Envoy of the ASEAN Chair to Myanmar.

He continued that the Government is striving for achieving peace in the country, and it welcomes the any friendly nations who assist the efforts of the government. Concerning the education sector, he stressed the needs to promote the standard of education system, and the academic year has already completed, and the exam results for the matriculation exam will be issued in June. The school enrollment for the basic education schools will commenced on May 25th.

The Maj-Gen later explained the vaccination process for prevention of COVID-19 disease. Over 66 million vaccines have already been received and over 53 million doses have been administered to the public. He called for cooperation of people in the vaccination process.

He also made explanation on the situation of fuel price, and efforts for sufficient supply of fuel in the country. The Maj-Gen also explained the efforts of promoting the sports standard of the country, by participating in the international competitions.

UEC member U KhinMaungOo later explained the preparation measures for the upcoming election including the compiling the voter lists. Then, Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun, UEC member U KhinMaungOo and officials replied to queries raised by media.
