Press Conference: Food Safety Forum 2019 To Be Organized

The press conference on Food Safety Forum 2019 took place on Wednesday morning at Novotel Hotel in Yangon.

Myanmar Consumer Union, FoSTA Myanmar and Myanmar Innovative Life Sciences (MILS) will jointly organize the forum on coming September 28th at Diamond Jubilee Hall in Yangon University. The forum will hold with two sections of panel discussions and the training workshops. At the first section, The local governments, the entrepreneurs, experts and many other public and private sector representatives in the field will discuss the challenges and difficulties in food manufacturing at the forum. Then, the forum will deliver the training programs and workshops improving food safety knowledge and skills as they work toward complying with local and international food standardizations.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Myanmar Innovative Life Sciences (MILS), Kyaw Thu Htet said “In Myanmar, 65 percent of all small and medium enterprises are those from food industries. 70 percent of country’s employments are in the agricultural and livestock sectors. It implies that these sectors should be mainly based for the economic development of the country. It is important to manufacture the products to be safe and reliable with regulations and guidelines to export the valued added ones.”

The forum targets the small and medium enterprises to initiate improvement in their food safety practices and facilities. The forum will cover up the food, agriculture, livestock, diary products, restaurants, fast food and beverage sectors and so on. About 400 participants are expected to join the forum. METRO wholesale Myanmar, City Mart Holdings Ltd (CHML) and Mekong Institute will support the forum.
