




Hailing the 80th anniversary Armed Forces Day, a ceremony to pay respect to the retired senior military officers was held at the Zeyathiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.
A total of 15 retired senior military officers attended the event, six of whom were accompanied by their spouses. Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing expressed words of respects, stressing the Tatmadaw’s efforts to safeguard the nation, religion, Sasana and culture in addition to the national defence duty and preventing the internal conflicts.
He also outlined the plans for holding the free and fair multiparty democratic general election by the end of this year and systematic handing over of the state duty to the winning party. He also expressed gratitude for the attendance of the retired senior military officers, which is also one of the fine traditions of Tatmadaw.
Then, the Senior General and wife and attendees paid respect to the retired senior military officers. On behalf of the retirees, General Thein Sein and Lt-Gen Aung Htwe made a speech, praising the Tatmadaw’s efforts for ensuring peace and stability of the country while striving for socio-economic development of the people. Then, the Senior General and wife and party presented the honorary gifts to the retirees.
