Preserving cultural heritage: 23rd MTCPAC (Central Level) launched

The 23rd Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition (Central Level) began at the respective places in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area on Tuesday.

1,883 contestants are participating in the central level contest and 170  judges will evaluate and mark systematically. The contestants from respective regions and states participated in the “Maha Gita” song singing contest at the Banquet Hall of Myanmar International Convention Center (2).

In the modern song singing contest at the signing room of MICC-2 the contestants from respective regions and states participated in the Basic Education Level aged 10 to 15 men and women contests.

The dancing contest was held at the plenary hall of the MICC-2 and the contestants participated in the amateur level (first class) women competition and the basic education level aged 15 to 20 men competition.

Likewise, the song composing contest, the harp playing contest, the Myanmar orchestra (Saing Waing) playing contests in group and individual and piano playing contest were held at the designated places of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area and the contestants took part in the respective categories.

Member of the State Administration Council Mahn Nyein Maung, the Union Level officials, the Ethnic Affairs Ministers, Social Affairs Ministers, the Advocate Generals from regions and states and officials enjoyed the contests at the respective places.

The Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition started in 1993 and now it has reached 23 times. The competition was held for the 22nd time in 2016 and it has been suspended for nearly 5 years.

In 2022, the competition could be held again from the township/district/region and state levels to the national level in a grand manner. The participating regions and states will compete the traditional dance of Mon ethnic people in the 23rd Competition.
