The former imperial capital of Huế remains one of the few cities in Viet Nam where historical architecture and natural landscapes are remarkably well preserved. This preservation stems from a long-term strategy that closely links tourism development with heritage conservation. Since 1996, Huế has restored hundreds of heritage sites.

The most recent restorations include Kiến Trung Palace and Thái Hòa Palace within the Imperial City. To ensure sustainable development, Huế has implemented special policies that provide a solid legal foundation for protecting and promoting the ancient capital’s unique cultural identity.
