A work coordination meeting on drawing master plan for all round maintenance of the Shwezigon Pagoda in Bagan Cultural Heritage site was held in Nay Pyi Taw on 8th November. Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin presided over the meeting and made a speech.
In his remarks, the Union Minister said that Shwezigon pagoda was donated by Myanmar ancient kings under the guidance of Shin Arahan in order to promote the Buddhism. As of today, the pagoda is still remained as a Grade 1 ancient architecture and the Buddha statues, cetis and stone inscriptions of Bagan era, bells and stone slabs of late Bagan era can be found in the precinct of the pagoda. He added that preservation efforts have to be made for long-term resilient of the pagoda.
The Union Minister urged relevant individuals to make concerted efforts to complete the drafting of all round maintenance Master Plan by 12th February 2025. It was followed by the discussions of 4 working committees on sector-wise work implementations. In his closing remark, the Union Minister urged the relevant officials to accelerate the master plan drawing progress within the time frame.
