



Department of Archaeology and National Museum (Bagan Branch) is making efforts on preserving of cultural heritage in Bagan Archaeological Zone.
The visitors are also urged to follow rules and regulations during their visit at the world heritage sites of Bagan. The department also prohibited taking pre wedding photos in the archaeological zone without wearing traditional dresses.
Likewise, if the visitors want to offer the candlelight or oil lamps to the Buddha images in Bagan Archaeological Zone, they need permission from the Department.
According to the Director of the Department of Archaeological and National Museum (Bagan Branch), there are over 400 pagodas which have mural paintingsin Bagan. When people offered candlelight or oil lamps to the pagodas, the heat from those light could have impact to damage the mural paintings. Moreover, there is no evidence of offering light to the pagoda even in the Bagan era. The architects of Bagan era constructed the pagodas to get natural light through the little holes on the pagoda walls.
At present, the number of visitors has been increased in Bagan Archaeological Zone and related rules and regulations were issued for the visitors.
