Presentation for MACCS: Taninthayi Region CM attended the event

The Department of Customs under the Ministry of Planning and Finance organized a presentation for the Myanmar Automated Cargo Clearance System (MACCS) at the meeting hall of the Tanintharyi Region Government Office in Daweion December 4, 2024.

Director U Maung Maung Htway Swe of the Customs Department explained that the Single Window (SW) system is a trade-related framework that facilitates seamless communication among government agencies, authorities, and trade entities within the country. This automated information exchange system is designed to enable easy access and efficient operations from a single platform.

He elaborated on the key objectives of the system, which include reducing time and costs for trade operations, improving the efficiency of processes, increasing satisfaction among stakeholders, and enabling effective resource management. The presentation also covered the development and implementation of the system, the benefits of adopting MACCS, the features of MACCS, online payment (MOPS/e-Payment), real-time information sharing, and the expansion of the MACCS system to Myeik and Kawthaung.

Following the presentation, regional ministers and officials discussed and shared additional insights.

Subsequently, Taninthayi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko delivered a speech, highlighting that Kawthaung Township, being on maritime trade, plays a key role in promoting trade activities. Efforts are underway to establish Mawtaung border gate as a permanent checkpoint. the Mawtaung gate exports marine products in daily basis. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of improving MACCS operations, particularly the need for reliable internet connectivity from MPT. He assured that the region government would provide the necessary support to facilitate the system's effective implementation.
