Preparedness activities: MRF notified necessary arrangements in case of flooding and overflowing

Myanmar rice federation notified natural disaster preparedness activities, stockpile of reserve food and rice and necessary arrangements in case of flooding and overflowing.

Chairman, Myanmar rice federation, Ye Min Aung, said " The modern warehouses and rice mill’s shelters are strong and the main problems of those are overflowing water. In case of flooding, the water may flow bottom of the warehouses. In such saturation, the floors of warehouses should be raised with the use of dunnage or pallet seats or other suitable ways in advance to minimize the impact. As the consumers should not to worry too much about rising of rice price. We have reserve rice. The private entrepreneur has prepared over 150,000 bags (24 pyiss ) in Yangon and other regions and states government, they all have plans. We have reserve rice enough and the rice is stored in various places."

As there is enough stockpiling of rice and paddy for self-sufficiency, the federation informed the people about purchasing rice with fear, urging the required volume of foods and materials. If they face difficulties to buy the goods with right quality at good prices, they can contact the federation, associated organizations, and depots.

A weather report issued by the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology on Thursday said the severe cyclonic storm “MOCHA” over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Central Bay of Bengal has moved Nearly Northwards and intensified into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm “MOCHA”.
