Preparations Underway: Meeting for 76th Anniversary Martyrs' Day

Aiming for successfully holding of the 76th Anniversary Martyrs' Day, the 1st coordination meeting of the central committee for organizing the 76th Martyrs’ Day was held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture on Friday.

This meeting was attended by the Central Committee Chairman and Union Minister U Ko Ko, Deputy Chairman of the Central Committee and many other concerned officials.

At the meeting, Chairman of the Central Committee, Union Minister U Ko Ko, said that purpose of the annual commemoration of the Martyrs' Day is not just to commemorate General Aung San and the fallen heroes, but to realize the value of the independence also.

The 76th Martyr's Day commemoration ceremony which falls on 19th July, 2023 was set to be held as a state-level occasion, in conjunction with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Martyr’s Mausoleum and the national flag half-mast hoisting ceremony at the Secretariat Office.

Honoring and dedicating to the fallen heroes, food donations and offering meals to monks will be carried out at the city halls in Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw. For security measures, installation of CCTV, X-Rays machines, Walkthrough devices, Bomb Squad, the use of anti-drone devices and clear identification of entry and exit routes will be carried out along with spraying COVID-19 disinfectants and social distancing for healthcare.

Essay contests and talks on the Martyr's Day will be conducted at basic education high schools, the Union Minister added. And, the relevant officials reported on matters including implementation tasks, security measures, preparations for the Martyr's Day Commemoration ceremony, formation of the sub-committees.

The Central Committee Chairman Union Minister U Ko Ko delivered the closing speech and the meeting was concluded.
