Preparations Underway: Meeting for 2024 Population and Housing Census

Patron of the Central Census Commission Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win addressed the commission’s 2nd meeting for the 2024 Population and Housing Census.

In this meeting at the Ministry of Immigration and Population on Tuesday afternoon, the Vice-Senior General said that 19 decisions were made in the 1st meeting – 5 decisions are being implemented and 14 have been completed.

The Commission has to provide leadership in accordance with the government's policy, to scrutinize and approve the detailed plan and instructions submitted by the responsible organization, to cooperate and to form census committees.

A census must be conducted in order to obtain the most accurate population and socio-economic conditions which is the most fundamental for strengthening a multi-party democratic system full of true discipline and building a union based on democracy and federalism.

The 2024 Population and Housing Census collection will be conducted from the 1st to the 15th of October. He also called for efforts to complete the entire census process and take it as a national duty.

And, Chairman of the Commission Union Minister U Myint Kyaing reported on matters including conducting pilot census, forming supervisory committees, plans to give training, public awareness program and cooperation.

Also, the attendees reported on matters including measures to successfully conduct the 2024 Population and Housing Census. Discussions and suggestions were also made for the 2024 Population and Housing Census.
