Preparation for Election: Demonstration on Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine

Demonstration on Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine (MEVM), and test voting were organized by the Tanintharyi Region Election Sub-Commission in Dawei on 6th July, in conjunction with the opening of Trainers Course. At the ceremony, Chief Minister U Myat Ko stressed for systematic handling of the MEVM, providing easy access for the voters since this is very first in Myanmar, using MEVM for casting vote.

He urged trainees to learn the use of voting machines thoroughly and shared the knowledge to those who will handle the machines during the election. He added that using MEVM could help avoid invalid votes, reduce time for vote counting without mistake, along with the release of voting result in a short period of time, ensuring to a free and fair election with transparency.

Then, a member of the sub-commisson explained about the course and Deputy Director General of UEC Office made explanation on the use of MEVM. After demonstrating the use of voting machine, attendees participated in the test voting activities. 80 trainees are attending the course on the use of MEVM until 8th July.
