Prabowo agrees to establish layoff task force

Indonesian President Prabowo has pledged to form a special task force to address the rising number of layoffs in the country.

The President announced the establishment of the Layoff Task Force during his speech at the commemoration of International Labor Day held at Monas, Jakarta on 1st May.

In his speech, Prabowo stated that the establishment of the Layoff Task Force would ensure that workers receive fair treatment if they are dismissed by their employers. He also emphasized that the government will not remain silent in the face of arbitrary layoffs. He pledged that the state will intervene, if necessary, to protect workers’ rights.
