PPLST Meeting: MoFR UM delivered an address

The Project and Policy Loan Scrutinizing Team Meeting No. (1/2026) was held, on January 6, at the Department of Internal Revenue, Office No. (46), and attended by Chairman of the Project and Policy Loan Scrutinizing Team Union Minister for Finance and Revenue, Dr. Kan Zaw.

At the meeting, Union Minister Dr. Kan Zaw, Chairman of the Scrutinizing Team, highlighted that the Myanma Economic Bank has providing loans including short-term and long-term commercial loans and MSME loans for projects and policy activities that require long-term investment for national development by using savings of the public at the Bank.

He emphasized that the “Project and Policy Loan Scrutinizing Team” has been established to provide loans to businesses and scrutinized loan applications submitted for Kyat 1,500 and above. He noted that currently, there are (7) project loans and (4) policy loans, in total (11) loans are repaying the outstanding loans. Therefore, he noted that this meeting aims to make record and to coordinate the management of the project and policy loans in a timely manner.

Then, Deputy Minister Daw Than Than Lin, Secretary of the Team presented that the loans issues for projects and policies, regular repayment of loan principal and interest, possible ways to collect remaining loans in line with loan procedures.

Then, the Joint Secretary, Managing Director of Myanma Economic Bank, presented meeting resolution of the previous Project and Policy Loan Scrutnizing Team (1/2022) and status of implementation and progress regarding project and policy loans. Afterwards, the members discussed matters relating to legal and loan repayment.

Then, Union Minister Dr. Kan Zaw, the Chairman of the Team made the concluding remark and adjourned the meeting. Also present at the meeting were Daw Than Than Lin, Deputy Minister for Finance and Revenue, Dr. Htein Lin Oo, Deputy Minister for Legal Affairs, Dr. Lin Aung, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar, and departmental heads.
