Power Supply: Repair works of damaged infrastructures

The recent powerful earthquake has caused extensive damages to the power lines and sub-stations in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area.

On April 3rd, Member of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister at the Prime Minister Office Admiral Tin Aung San inspected the repair works at the damaged infrastructures. At 33/11 KV Sub-Station No.8 in Ottarathiri Township, repair works are being carried out for the damaged facilities including the transformers, power lines and related equipment.

In addition, the power lines connecting for supply of electricity in the township were also damaged, and repair works are underway. The severe earthquake that struck on March 28, has caused power shortage across the nation. Efforts have been made for restoration of power supply, repairing the damages at the distribution lines and main sub-stations that transmit electricity to Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Mandalay and Sagaing Regions where the major damages have occurred by the disaster.

On 30th March, the operation has been restored through the National Grid. The repair works have been carried out with the collective efforts of skilled staff from Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Yangon, Bago, Magway, Mandalay, and Ayeyawady Regions as well as Kayin and Mon States. As of April 4th, 75% of repair works completed in Nay Pyi Taw Council area while 58.38% in Mandalay Region and 20% in Sagaing.
