Power Supply in Rakhine: Electricity restored to all townships after ‘MOCHA’

Ministry of Electricity has carried out repairing of power lines and sub power stations damaged by cyclonic storm MOCHA in the northern parts of Rakhine State.

Due to the efforts of the Ministry, electricity from the National Grid coukd be supplied to wards and some villages from Sittwe, Ponnagyun, KyaukTaw, Myauk-U, Minbya, Myebon, Rathedaung and Pauktaw on 7th, 18th, and 23rd June and 5th July.

To supply electricity to remainging towns and villages, repairs of 66-KV Rathedaung-Buthidaung power lines have been carried out and it has competed full percent.  Buthidaung sub-power station and Maungdaw sub-power station resumed distribution of electricity to 19 wards and 48 villages in the townships.

Now, electricity could be supplied to 10 townships in the nothern part of Rakhine state where powerlines, sub-power stations and related materials damaged by the cyclone MOCHA and so that all townships in Rakhine state could access electricity through the National Grid in the aftermath of cyclone.
